Wendy Brawer, founding director of GreenMap.org, graciously agreed at the last minute to host the boys and is seen here conducting a Q+A session, to describe the work of Green-Maps and that of map-makers around the world. She was also supported by Aaron Reiss who recently graduated from Yale in Environmental and Urban Studies and spent 2 years teaching English in China.
Question and answer session touched on many aspects of the interplay between the boys A-Level subject (Economics and Politics) and the green economy, renewable energy, vested interests and global warming.
Sam Schmitt, Economics and Politic master at SPS, listens to the boys debating the pros and cons of green communities and renewable energy.
Wendy Brawer describes a selection of Green-Maps from around the world, that are displayed on the walls of the office.
Green-Maps, a not-for-profit organization, located in an old Catholic school in the East Village of Manhattan, was in sharp contrast to the other visits the boys made on this trip, to the likes of Moody's, Deutsche Bank and the UN.
Richard L Williams, OP stands in the background, and is the connection between SPS and Green-Maps, asked Wendy to step in at the last moment to give the talk to the boys and acted as MC for the event.
Green Map System's location is 220A East 4th Street, between Avenues A & B in Manhattan in NYC's East Village.
(L to R) Aaron Reiss (program associate), Wendy Brawer (founding director) and Shireen Khan (strategist). GreenMaps would like to encourage the boys and masters of St Pauls School to become map-makers themselves and keep in touch.
